Wedding Dress Inspiration for The Modern Bride: From LBFW Day 3

Even veterans like Toju Foyeh and Yemi Kosibah served deliciously modern looks along with faithful classics. See our favourite looks:

 Magnetic Elegance (ME)

The show kicked off with this brand. If you’re a fan of the minimalist look, just go home. This one is lavish, for the glamazons: with look-at-me reflective beading, feathers, tassels and so on, yet it all tied in so well together. We see you ME.

2018 brides, you all are so lucky; bridal fashion is bursting at the seams with inspiration for wedding dresses, reception dresses, veils and headpieces, and even wedding pants and jumpsuits for the non-comformist bride. You’ll know if you have seen the best looks from Day 1 and Day 2 of Lagos Bridal Fashion Week. We love how fresh and new a lot of Nigerian and African designers are thinking. Day 3 had some especially modern looks for the bride and groom who are up-to-date with fashion- Ese Azenabor for the brides and Taryor Gabriels for the men.

Valerie Davids

This collection was so unique. The designs looked like they would work just as well as traditional bridal attire and as reception dresses. We love the use of black too. We don’t see enough black in bridal dresses.

Taryor Gabriels

This one is for the fashion-forward modern groom who wants to stand out clearly from the crowd on his wedding day. Atta boys!

Toju Foyeh

Toju Foyeh is practically a household name in Nigerian bridal fashion. So what does a veteran in this game bring to LBFW? A focus on one thing many designers overlooked: headpieces. We STAN for these ones. The drama! A simple veil or tiara will never be enough again. We’ve been convertedtt!

Hudayya

Hudayya has been making wedding dresses for some time, but seemed to have carved a niche with more conservative type brides. This collection smashed that box. There was glamour and sophistication that would sit well on brides of any style; and still cater to muslimah brides- like that shimmery gold number.

Ese Azenabor

US-based Ese Azenabor who has made waves internationally and  recently tied the knot herself, came out with a cutting-edge collection. The thigh-high slit and side ruffles, a similar jumpsuit, regal capes and so on. The gossamer dress at the top of this article came from this collection as well and was our favourite of the night.

Kosibah

You can tell that Yemi Kosibah is a deft, experienced hand. This sheer dress is so tastefully done, it is sexy without being inappropriate or revealing. The movement of the fabric as the model walked was stunning.

What are your favourite looks from all 3 days of LBFW? Did you find your dream dress?

6 Wedding Hacks That Couples Should Know

Published

on

[ad_1]

Wedding hacks are the ultimate shortcuts or ease-givers you need for proper planning, entertainment and the ultimate execution of your event. They may not necessarily save you money, but they will save time and alleviate some stress related to planning your wedding. Here are six wedding hacks that you should know about:

Wedding Cake
The wedding cake to be cut in front of your guests could be different from the one served to them. Having two wedding cakes or alternatives to a cake for general consumption could make your cake handling easier. A cupcake tower of different cupcakes or cake slices from a big (no-tiered) cake for your guests will satisfy the cravings for dessert.

Veil Weights
Veil weights are tiny weights that can be hooked onto the bride’s veil and will come in handy for any outdoor wedding to stop her veil from blowing off.

Joint Email
A joint email for any wedding correspondence and bills should be set up for better organisation; this will help the couple locate documents shared online regarding their wedding via email. This email will also be beneficial after the wedding for joint bills and family transactions.

Numbered RSVP Cards
If you wish to have limited RSVP cards for your intimate wedding reception, number all the cards so that they correspond to the numbers placed beside the names on your guest list. This way, you can track what card originally belonged to a certain guest.

Heel Protectors
Heel protectors can be put on your wedding shoes if you have an outdoor wedding. This is great so that you don’t lose your balance and risk a fall on your special day. It will also keep your heels from sinking into sand.

Sewn-in Bra
To have your bra sewn into your wedding dress means you can dance with reckless abandon during your wedding reception. The last thing a bride should be bothering about is the strength of her bra to lift up her girlies!

After the wedding, be sure to keep your spirits up by continuing to do everything you loved before your wedding. Some of these hacks may directly benefit the bride, but the groom will indirectly benefit from her ultimate comfort and happiness.

Enjoy these hacks and live it up!

Fairy Tale Capelets and Capes

If you are not a fan of veils this may be the perfect style for you. What’s
more is that you can take off the cape/ capelet at any time to reveal a
different look. In fact, this dress does not require that you wear another
dress for your wedding reception.

Halter Necks

This trend is back and better even for wedding gowns! It emphasises your
face and shows off the structure of your shoulder. Interestingly, it works
for a variety of body types as it makes the body look more elegant by
highlighting your most flattering features.

Make it Bowtastic!

Your fairy-tale story doesn’t get any better than this with these bow
styles. In 2018, designers have created a whole new outlook for wedding
gowns, and it is bow-inclusive! Here are a few “bowtastic” suggestions:

Just like the Cape and Capelet gowns, this is another “multipurpose”
