It’s rainy season and the weather is quite chilly, so bathing with cold water might sound like suicide. But what if we told you that this would benefit your skin? Aha! Now we have your attention.
Bathing with cold water not only improves your skin overtime, it would also benefit your hair. And we’ll explain how.
Cold Water Refreshes The Skin And Closes Your Pores
Bathing with hot water consistently can become too drying for the face, causing the skin to be irritated. But cold water won’t dry out your skin. Also, cold water closes your pores and this will stop dirt and grime from getting in. Not to mention, the cold water hitting your skin causes your blood vessels to constrict. This tightens your pores and could reduce swelling in the eyes.
Ever heard the tip about splashing cold water on the face to reduce puffy eyes? Exactly!
Cold Water Boosts Circulation In The Body
All that blood moving around close to your skin as a result of the cold water, could actually make your skin glow.
Cold Water Would Improve The Condition Of Your Hair
Washing your hair with cold water seals the cuticles of the hair. With the cuticles sealed, the hair stays moisturized for longer and your hair will be able to better resist breakage.
Tip: When you deep condition your hair, the heat opens up the cuticles so your hair can absorb the treatment. It is best to rinse with cold water as this seals the cuticles, trapping the nourishment from the conditioner in. Rinsing your hair with hot water after deep conditioning might be counter productive as you could rob your hair of some of the treatment it has absorbed.
If you can’t totally stand the inconvenience of bathing with cold water, you can start up with hot water and then for the last 2 minutes of your bath use cold water. You’ll still get the benefits.
We certainly think these benefits are worth a few shivers. What do you think? Let us know in the comment section.
