The summer transfer window for all top leagues in Europe and several other leagues around Europe came to an end two days ago with .ers able to secure deadline day moves to clubs who want them.
Some weren’t that lucky and that group has some Nigerian .ers. The .ers were in talks over leaving their present teams but the move didn’t happen due to several factors key of which is time.
In some cases, the selling clubs didn’t approve the move as their isn’t enough time to get a replacement. That was largely why Leicester City didn’t yield to the request of Leeds United to sign Kelechi Iheanacho.
Leicester City received a late offer from Leeds United after a failed approach for Baba Dieng of Marseille but it was knocked back as despite their willingness to let him leave at a fair price. They will be short of numbers in attack if the Nigerian leaves and they don’t bring in a replacement.
That same scenario .ed out in the case of Samuel Chukwueze, who was in talks with Everton over a loan move but Villareal wanted an obligation to buy inserted in the deal while the Merseysiders wanted a simple option. Both clubs couldn’t reach an agreement largely due to limited time for the talks.
West Ham United pushed to sign Ola Aina from Torino with a bid in excess of £7m which they see as a decent fee for a .er in the last year of his contract, but the deal didn’t happen with Torino saying they don’t have time to shop for a replacement in the event of his departure.
Bordeaux who are in financial mess w. keen on seeing one cap Super Eagles forward Josh Maja leave but Birmingham City who were linked with him didn’t meet the terms proposed by the French side. Who were demanding an outright sale. The English side wanted him on loan.
One that surprisingly went unde the radar and was missed by major news outlets was the case of Terem Moffi. Moffi has been in fine form for Lorient with back to back brace in his last two Ligue 1 games.
Wolverhampton Wanderers made a late bid for the 24 year old but it was dismissed by Lorient who wants the forward to remain at the club until at least the summer. The idea is they will get a better and probably bigger offer for the Nigeria international.
