One-time Nigerian international goalkeeper Dele Alampasu has sealed a move to Pieta Hotspurs F.C in Malta on a free transfer.
The 25-year-old joins the Maltese Premier League club on a one-year deal. He last .ed for FS Jelgava in Latvia.
Alampasu came through the famed Abuja Football College. The shot-stopper rose to prominence for his performances for Nigeria’s U17 team at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
He received the tournament’s Golden Glove award as the Golden Eaglets won their fourth age grade World Cup title in style, defeating Mexico 3-0 in the final. Kelechi Ihenacho, Isaac Success, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Francis Uzoho were all members of the Golden Eaglets team that year.
Alampasu made his senior debut for Nigeria as a 70th-minute substitute against Togo in a 3-0 victory on June 1, 2017. He has not worn the Super Eagles jersey since.
Alampasu hasn’t reached the heights many predicted when he first broke out in 2013. He signed with C.D. Feirense in 2015 but struggled for .ing time and was loaned to Cesarense for the 2016-17 season.
He left Feirense permanently in 2020 and signed with FK Ventspils in the Latvian Higher League w. he spent one year. With his most recent move to Pieta Hotspurs, Alampasu will be hoping to revive his once-promising career.
