How Not To Wear Skinny Jeans In Your 30s

In your teens and 20s, it seemed like you could rock just about any outfit and still look dope. But now you wear your favorite skinny jeans and look like a complete joke. What could have gone wrong? These jeans were the IT just five years ago.

Well, you got older. Although a few years ago you could slay in almost any outfit, as you get older, the rules gradually begin to change. While aging isn’t something most of us like to hear (myself included), the obvious reality is that we are all getting older and it is only right that our closets tastefully reflects this.

Most of us are unaware of this and thus, are stuck making disastrous fashion mistakes, like not wearing skinny jeans the right way. Although these past seasons, skinny jeans have taken the backseat allowing for pants with straighter cuts of varying volumes, they will definitely remain a relevant classic piece.

If you utilized your 20s style, then by now you’re most likely zoning in on your personal style and being more informed about what works for you and what doesn’t. However, depending on the occasion and your mood, the skinny jeans might just be the right accouterments needed to spice up an entire look.

Here are 6 skinny jeans dos and don’ts if you’re in your 30s…

#1. Do accentuate your curves, don’t show your butt crack

When you bend low, we shouldn’t be graced with the awkward view of your butt crack or your lacy underwear. Always opt for skinny jeans that are fitted, but not too tight. When they’re too tight that you obviously can’t breathe, it looks like dressing up crept up on you. Always look ready and in charge of your wardrobe.

#2. Do leave breaks, don’t overwhelm your ankles

While we’ve seen some of our favorite celebrities break the rules and turn the most classic skinny jeans mistakes around, it’s still safe to allow your skinny jeans to rest right above your ankles. That break between your ankles and your shoes might be what you need to look more stylish, especially for petite women.

#3. Do make a statement, don’t be too loud

One of the most common skinny jeans mistakes you shouldn’t make in your 30s is going the all loud route. While distress jeans are a statement in themselves, keep the rest of the outfit a little toned down to avoid looking like a teenage-wannabe trying too hard to be trendy.

#4. Do glam up, don’t be too plain

Accessories are a fundamental part of any stylish person’s ensemble. Rocking skinny jeans and throwing on a lazy T-shirt without the right accessories should be far from you. In your 30s, the right shoes, handbags, and jewelry are enough for your denim game to take a new shape.

#5. Do pair with statement tops, don’t do regular

We get you, simplicity is a classic, but t. are more stylish ways to rock skinny jeans than with regular tops. You don’t have to wear them with flat shoes and T-shirts all the time. Elevate your skinny jeans game with blazers or a statement blouse while topping it off with nice heels and sunglasses.

#6. Do incorporate colors, don’t be boring

By now, you can tell that you’re wasting great style could-have-beens on .ing it safe. If you’re only pairing your skinny jeans with neutral colors, then maybe you’re taking this adulting thing a bit too far. A pop (or maybe more) of color will spice up any lewk when done right.
