How to Get Soft Hands Like That of a Baby – FashionStyle.ng

I’ll never forget what one of my classmates said to me back then in secondary school. I can’t remember vividly what happened but I know he touched my palms and screamed. Then he asked if I did hard jobs after school. According to him, my palms were too hard for a girl. I felt bad and at a young age, I began to wonder how to get soft hands.

Thinking about it now, I can’t help but laugh. That was so insensitive of him but let’s agree, it was funny.

I wasn’t doing any hard job after school. I was just one of the many people who had hard palms— thanks to their genetics.

How to Get Soft, Younger-Looking Hands

Like mine, your palms may be dry and hard because either of your parents has hard palms. It may also be hard as a result of the stressful work you do every day. It can even be because of the weather.

You know when it’s harmattan season, everyw. gets dry and parched.

But you don’t have to wait until someone jeers at you before you do something about it.

Use any of these home remedies every day and make your hands soft like a baby’s own. They’ll also help to prevent cases of dry hands.

Here they are:

1. Moisturize Your Hands Regularly

You can use a moisturizing lotion, hand cream, shea butter, petroleum jelly, or any natural oil for this.

Moisturizing is a crucial part of the healthy skincare routine you should adopt. It helps to treat (and prevent) dry skin. It also protects sensitive skin and improves the overall texture of your skin.

A pro-tip when moisturizing is to do so when your skin is damp. This will help to trap moisture in your skin.

But be careful not to over-moisturize. If you do so, you can weaken your skin barrier function and wind up clogging your pore pores. In addition, over-moisturizing prevents your hands from using their own moisture.

The bottomline is to moisturize but do so in moderation.

2. Don’t Wash Your Hands With Hot Water

Hot water quickly dries up your skin. It also strips the skin of its natural oils. If you love to bathe with hot water, do so less often. Or rather, use lukewarm water and save yourself from dry hands.

3. Wear Gloves to Protect Your Hands

When the weather is extremely cold, protect your hands with gloves. You should also wear gloves while doing some hard chores that can get your palms hard.

For instance, when you’re doing the dishes or washing the bathroom, gloves come in handy. They prevent harsh chemicals from penetrating into your hands, t.by causing skin irritation.

They also offer you a firm grip.

4. Drink Water

Another tip on how to get soft hands is to regularly drink water.

Your dry palms may also be because you don’t rehydrate your body. The solution is to drink enough water every day. Drink about eight glasses of water every day.

Water helps to flush out toxins from your body. It also keeps you hydrated and eventually gives you soft and supple hands as you wish.

5. Prepare a Hand Scrub with Olive Oil and Sugar

Olive oil and sugar will also make a good scrub also for your face. Since olive oil is a good moisturizer, mix about ½ teaspoon with a teaspoon of sugar. Then apply the mixture on your palms, carefully rubbing your hands together as you do so.

Do this for some minutes before rinsing off with water.

You can also apply lemon and sugar or coconut oil and honey for the same results.

6. Wash Your Hands With Good Soap

With the rate at which the pandemic is spreading, you have to keep washing your hands to avoid contracting any disease.

As we earlier agreed, wash your hands with lukewarm water. And ensure you use a good soap.

For better effects, use a hand soap that contains aloe vera, jojoba oil, vegetable oils, cocoa butter, avocado, or vitamin E. They help fight against dry skin conditions.

You can also check for moisturizing soaps with ingredients such as lanolin and glycerin. They’re also good for dry hands.
