“The current Governor of Lagos State (Sanwo-Olu) is doing a fantastic job,” Gbajabiamila stated.
The fact that we had a one-term Governor in the past does not guarantee that things will remain the same in the future. Under the circumstances, this Governor is doing a good job. He’s had a rough time in the last two years, but he’s come out on top. So, what’s the point of upsetting the apple cart? I believe he (Sanwo-Olu) is doing an excellent job.”

The Speaker also clarified his rumored aspiration to run for governor of Lagos in 2023, stating that he had “no urgent plan” to run.

He claimed that the task ahead of him as the country’s No. 4 citizen was vast and difficult enough for him to be distracted by the rumor.

When asked if he had any ambitions for governorship, Gbajabiamila replied, “That (question) evokes a smile.” No, I don’t have such a strategy, and I don’t have one in the near future. Right now, I’m working at a job that is quite difficult. It can be the most hardest job in the world at times, and I tell people that.
People don’t get it, but this isn’t the place for me to explain it.”

“I don’t want to be distracted. I am currently serving as Speaker of the House of Representatives, and I have a lot of obligations on my plate. Anything else would be a hindrance. What about the governorship of Lagos State? I haven’t given it a second thought. Why? Because the current Governor is performing admirably.”
