IPOB Gives Conditions To Dialogue With Govt

The Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, issued criteria for talks to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government on Thursday.

Emma Powerful, IPOB’s spokesman, said the group would listen to the Federal Government if its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, was released unconditionally.

Powerful further stated that the Federal Government should set a date for the Biafra referendum.

Powerful stated in a signed declaration that Kanu had committed no crime that warranted his detention and prosecution.

He insisted that Kanu should not be arrested when terrorists are free to roam the streets.

“Our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu committed no crime to justify prosecution by the federal government, which is openly hobnobbing with real terrorists and Fulani bandits while crushing nonviolent agitators,” Powerful writes.

“We demand our Leader’s unconditional release.” He should not be detained when actual terrorists and mass murderers are free to roam the streets.

“The Nigerian government should set a date for a referendum on Biafra so that people can choose whether to stay in Biafra or Nigeria.”

Those who wish to undermine Biafra’s independence should wait for the referendum date.

“The IPOB demands only the unconditional release of our great leader, Mazi Nnamdi KANU, and the setting of a date for the Biafra referendum.”

“We are not interested in any dialogue until our Leader, Mazi Nnamdi KANU, is released before we can sit down to talk with anyone.”
