Joe Biden commemoration anniversary took off  in New York at 8:30 a.m. (12:30 p.m. GMT) with a ceremony at the site of the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers.
He is not expected to speak, but in his Friday address, he said: “No matter how much time has passed, these commemorations bring everything painfully back as if you just got the news few seconds ago.”
He acknowledged the “darker elements of human nature – fear and wrath, resentment and violence towards Muslim Americans” that followed the attacks, but insisted that the US’s “greatest strength” had maintained united.
“We realized that the one thing that must never be broken is unity.” he added.
