Lancelot Imasuen Calls For Revival Of Governing Policies For Actors

A renowned movie director and producer, Lancelot Imasuen, on Wednesday called on the National Assembly to revive existing governing policies for actors to instil orderliness in the sector.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that every profession in Nigeria had governing policies which enabled members to conform to its ethical demands and viable work environment.

NAN reports that the screenwriter has produced movies like “Yahoo Millionaires’’ and others too numerous to mention, and had won the Africa Movie Academy Awards for Best Nigerian Film.

He added that policies that had been in existence since 1991 could be revived to provide legal backing to the code of behaviour for film actors to entrench order and structure.

“We want the existing governing policies to be revived by the legislatures; this will enable us to work properly in an organised setup.

“The lawyers, doctors and all professions have their governing policies; we need an enabling environment to allow our business to thrive,’’ he said.

Imasuen also urged the government to infuse a hands-on approach in the tourism sector to maximise its numerous derivable benefits.

He said that tourism was a huge industry and a potential force of employment in the country if well harnessed.

“The government has yet to come to terms with the fact that tourism can contribute immensely to the nation’s GDP.

“If the tourism sector is well cultivated it will reduce the number of idle youths in all the nooks and crannies of Nigeria,’’ he said. (NAN)
