Moses Commends Officers After Successful AIG Zone 2 Badminton Tourney In Lagos – Latest Sports and Football News in Nigeria

Chairman Organising Committee of the just concluded First Assistant Inspector General of Police Badminton Tourney, SP Moses Aliu has commended the police officers for their impressive performances throughout the three days event that ended yesterday at the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos.

Teams like Police College badminton club, Ikoyi club, Country club, Railway club, Army badminton club, Airforce Base badminton Club, and LASU badminton club were involved in the tournament that kicked off last Friday in the Badminton sports hall of Police College.


The tourney was organized to honor AIG Adeleke Adeyinka Bode who is in charge of Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.

Speaking with Sports247, Aliu said he was not only impressed with the performances of the officers but also delighted with the discovery of some talents at the just concluded badminton tourney in the state.


“What can I say is to commend our officers who participated in the tournament. Our officers in various categories have done well and some of them not only reached the final but emerged winners in their various categories. This is to tell you that our sportsmen and women have done well and need to be commended,” he said.

In his own comment, force sports secretary, Kalat Chammang also commended the organizers for the successful tournament saying that badminton is one of the fast-growing sports in the Nigeria Police Force.


He also praised the participants for a job well done saying that the essence of the tournament is to keep the officers fit and prepared them for future national and international events.

In the men’s singles final decided yesterday, Victor Ikechukwu from force headquarters defeated Tobi Owolabi from zone two 2-0, while Funke Aiyelugba from zone two hammered Temitope Adenuga from zone two 2-0 in women’s singles.


The exhibition match was .ed between AIG Adeleke/Tobi Owolabi against Aliu Moses/Tolu Olukotun, while invitational matches were also .ed among the invited clubs.

Some awards were given to participating clubs and individuals who distinguished themselves throughout the tournament.
