Chelsea .er on loan to Inter Milan reveals the move to Chelsea was born out of a desire for revenge against the Blues.
It would be an understatement to tell Chelsea fans it just didn’t work out well for Romelu Lukaku at Stamford Bridge.
If anything, they will consider the whole spell a disaster they never wanted to relive again, and it all happened due to an unauthorized interview the Belgian gave about the club that slated the manager, Thomas Tuchel and undermined the club.
Since that moment, nothing ever really worked out, to the extent that many started to wonder why the Inter Milan star had even considered returning back to a club that never gave him the chance the first time out.
Well, according to Romelu Lukaku, the whole thing seemed more like a joke that was born out of revenge towards Chelsea.
The former Everton .er had some grievances towards Chelsea, that felt like unfinished business he needed to take care of.
For Lukaku, he didn’t like how he left a club that he spent 11 years in as a .er only to see it not work out in the end.
So the move to Chelsea was more of the Belgian looking to prove himself to the world and to himself that he could do it again at the Stamford bridge, and to sit back and gloat about having bested it at the Blues.
But like the saying goes, it might not be fun returning to your Ex again, a lesson Romelu may have learnt the hard way now.
Speaking of his struggles, the 29 year old said in an interview:
“I think before, when I left [Chelsea], I wanted to take revenge at Chelsea because when I was young, it was my team for eleven years.
“I had the opportunity to go back t. and thought I would be a hero, but that was not the case.” Lukaku said.
On how the move back to Inter Milan came about, he said:
“In March, when I heard t. was an opportunity to come back . [Inter], I slowly didn’t say anything, but towards the end of the season, we did a very good job with the club. and I was able to come back ..
“I make reflections only at the end of the season. I saw that as a .er with Inter, I did well; the season at Chelsea for me was difficult. I had no doubts; that is why I made the decision to come back ..”
