NFL star Brian shot in carjacking attempt undergoes surgery – Sporting Life

NFL rookie Brian Robinson Jr. has undergone successful surgery after the Washington Commanders star was shot during an attempted carjacking in the United States capital.

After sitting out the Commanders’ preseason finale in anticipation of a big role with the team this season, rookie running back Robinson Jr. was shot multiple times in a carjacking incident. The third-round pick suffered two gunshot wounds to his ‘lower extremities’ during the incident on Sunday, according to the Washington DC Police Department.

While the former Alabama star’s immediate on-field future is unclear, Robinson took to Instagram to assure fans that his surgery ‘went well’ while thanking his followers for their prayers. Commanders head coach Ron Rivera visited Robinson on Sunday evening and confirmed he was faring ‘well’.

Among those with Robinson and his family at the hospital Sunday night were head coach Rivera, team owners Dan and Tanya Snyder, president Jason Wright, general manager Martin Mayhew, director of mental wellness Barbara Roberts and chief medical officer Anthony Casolaro . Robinson had featured in two preseason games this month, scoring a touchdown.
