Nigeria have dropped one place in the FIFA World Rankings for the month of June. The Super Eagles went from 30th to 31st position in the World since the last rankings were released in March 2022.
The three-time African champions also fell from third to fourth place on the continent as Tunisia surpassed Nigeria in the African Top 3. Nigeria are now ranked fourth in Africa, behind first-place Senegal, second-place Morocco, and third-place Tunisia.
Behind Nigeria are Cameroon, Egypt, Algeria and Mali in fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth place, respectively. The latest men’s ranking was published on FIFA’s official website today.
Nigeria .ed four matches during the period in review. They recorded two friendly defeats against Mexico (2-1) and Ecuador (1-0). That was followed by two wins to begin their 2023 AFCON qualifying campaign.
Jose Peseiro’s men secured a 2-1 win over Sierra Leone at the Abuja National Stadium on June 9, followed by the 10-0 thrashing of Sao Tome & Principe in their second Group A game four days later in Agadir.
Former world champions Brazil continue to lead the standings as the number 1 ranked nation in the world after displacing Belgium in March. Belgium, Argentina, France, and England round up the top five.
