As part of efforts to further strengthen the security forces to achieve optimum performance, the Ondo State Executive Council has approved the procurement of 20 additional response vehicles for the state security network codenamed Amotekun Corps.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo, in a press briefing, shortly after the state council meeting, said the council was pleased to note the efforts of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to curb rising crime and insecurity in the state.

The government spokesman disclosed that in view of the immense efforts and fruitful activities of Amotekun, the State Council was pleased to approve the procurement of 20 additional emergency vehicles, apart from the approval for the recruitment of 500 personnel for the security unit.

He said, “The cabinet noted the efforts of the governor to curb the rising crime and insecurity across the state.

“The council noted the efforts of Amotekun. It noted with pleasure that Amotekun has made efforts and needs the support of the citizens and residents of the state.

“We need to support Amotekun in terms of gathering information so that they can work maximally. The council was pleased to note Amotekun’s activities and gave a vote of confidence and patted Amotekun on the back.”

While stressing that t. will be no meaningful development without the safety of lives and property, Ogojo said the state government has also tightened the ban on Okada after 6 p.m. to further enhance security in the state.

“The ban on OKADA is still in place. The cabinet has decided that this ban should be tightened. OKADA is mostly used to commit crimes. The ban on the movement of OKADA after 6 p.m. will be strengthened.”

The Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of the state, Sir Charles Titiloye, said that the Executive Council of the state has also approved a bill for the raising and grazing of livestock in the state.
