Premier League .ers according to the latest reports have agreed to stop taking the knee before the start of every league game or competition going into the new season.

Instead, the premier league .ers agree to tackle racism and discrimination in a different form or gesture going into the season.

The gesture began in the 2020 season during the height of the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement that was spurred by the death of a black American, George Floyd at the hands of the Police.

In solidarity to the backlash, some .ers in Europe began taking the knee before the Premier League officially adopted the gesture to be part of the anti-racism campaign.

According to the league it was done to “amplify the message that racism has no place in football or society.”

But some Premier League .ers criticized the move later on though, with Wilfried Zaha condemning the action and refusing the knee.

England fans earlier protested against it back when it started, with some club fans using drones with messages written on banners to condemn the act.

That did not stop though as the league and its .ers carried on with the gesture before every game.

But in a new meeting by the premier league captains, they have agreed to perform the gesture in a couple of games starting from the opening weekend round of games and only in significant moments.

These are the matches in October and March, on Boxing Day, the final round of the season and the FA Cup and Carabao Cup finals.

“We have decided to select significant moments to take the knee during the season to highlight our unity against all forms of racism.

“In so doing, we continue to show solidarity for a common cause.

“We remain resolutely committed to eradicating racial prejudice, and to bring about an inclusive society with respect and equal opportunities for all.”
