In an age of excessive glitz and glamour and so much misconception about the idea of marriage, a little “old school” wisdom isn’t out of place. The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God World Wide, RCCG, has revealed the things he said to convince his wife Pastor Foluke Adeboye to accept his marriage proposal.
Pastor Adeboye married Foluke at the age of 25 in 1968, without a job, as a fresh graduate and thus the couple had a very simple marriage and a rocky start to marital life.
In a new book titled, Stories of Pastor Adeboye: The Power of Testimony, written by Bisi Daniels, the revered cleric noted that he was least qualified among the suitors for Foluke.

“There were many of us contesting for the hand of my wife. I wanted to marry a beautiful princess but I was the least qualified among the many suitors. Out of the number, three of us were in the forefront.”
“But I was a student, while one of us was a lawyer who owned a car. All I had was a ‘foot wagon’ (moving around on foot). I decided to let her know my financial status.”
“I said to her, ‘Please, listen. I have nothing; no money, no house, no influence, nothing.’ I told her that if I had anything at all, it was the little brain God gave to me. ‘I have nothing to offer you except myself. If you will marry me, you will have me to yourself completely.”
Foluke Adeboye, the oldest of a family of ten Children, was born on Tuesday 13th July 1948 to the family of Jacob and Morounfola Adelusi Adeyokunnu.
It would appear to be that Pa Jacob was the first son of his father from the royal family and lineage in Ijeshaland, the Owa Obokun Oji, Osun State. Thus, Foluke Adeboye is a princess.
