Roman Reigns has joked he could have made Aquaman even more money if he’d been cast in the lead role.

The WWE superstar has a similar look to Jason Momoa – who .ed Arthur Curry and his superhero alter ego in the 2018 DC Extended Universe blockbuster, which grossed an amazing $1.148 billion worldwide – and he had an epic response after a fan teased him about the comparisons.

During a live show this week, one person in the crowd shouted out to Roman – who was on the apron during a tag team match at the time – that he loved him in Aquaman, prompting plenty of laughter from nearby fans.

The Tribal Chief didn’t miss a beat, turning round to address the heckle with the perfect response.

He smirked: ‘It would’ve made more money if I was in it too!’

That would certainly be impressive, given Aquaman has a worldwide box office gross of any film in the DCEU thus far, with the closest competitor being Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which pulled in a measly $873 million.

Roman – who appeared alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in Hobbs & Shaw – could have another blockbuster role in mind as fans hope for a dream match against his real life cousin.

The Rock isn’t ruling out the idea further down the line, as he recently told ComicBook.com: ‘I don’t know if I have another title run, considering I’m the People’s Champion, but I don’t know if it’s another title run.

‘I think possibly, you know, t. might be another match down the road. It would have to make sense.’

A match with Roman would certainly tick the right boxes, and the Tribal Chief’s former special counsel Paul Heyman previously weighed in on the potential bout.

Earlier this year, he exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘I look at it from a completely different perspective than you do. I don’t look at it as, “Roman Reigns wants to face Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson at WrestleMania”.

‘I look at it as… Roman Reigns is considering accommodating Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s desire to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.

‘I’d like to add that t. are dozens of top tier, A-list performers and athletes and superstars who want to get into the ring with Roman Reigns a WrestleMania – and why shouldn’t they? It is the biggest match of the year on the grandest stage of them all.’

*WWE SmackDown airs Friday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
