The hit quiz show has been away from our screens for nearly 10 years, and although t. will be some changes, it seems it’s going to fundamentally stay familiar as the series we know and love.

New host Romesh recently shared how this would transpire into the instantly recognisable theme track.

He joked he’d asked the production team for a ‘grime’ style track, before explaining what changes viewers might expect from the series.

‘So listen, the Weakest Link music is so iconic… those notes, it just .s in the memory,’ he begun in a recent Q&A with press including Metro.co.uk.

‘It’s a new version, but it’s the same music,’ he reassured fans.

‘The whole set – the music, the set, everything – they’ve done it the way… I can’t claim any credit for this at all, the way they’ve done it. It’s the Weakest Link, but it’s a new version all of the things.

‘The iconic elements of it are t. but it’s just next level, it’s so intense! As soon as you walk on the set it’s so intense and full on and then the music kicks in.’

He went on to add: ‘When we’re doing the actual quiz, all of those elements are t..’

‘I’d like to think I did a good job but if I turned up if I turn to production and said a deal breaker would be that you’ve got to change the music they would get rid of me in a heartbeat

‘You can’t get rid of that,’ concluded the star.

Romesh also gave some insight into what fans can expert from his hosting style and it seems like he had a lot of fun navigating his new role.

The Ranganation star admitted: ’It’s sort of a disgusting thing to try and describe what it is that you do, but I guess it’s just me being myself.

‘I would describe it as affectionate mickey taking, so if somebody gets an answer wrong or somebody messes up or whatever, I will reference it but in a way that I would like to think they’re in on the joke as well.

‘I mean, it comes from a nice place, people are coming onto the show to raise money for charity.

‘So it’d be a bit full on for me to absolutely put the boot in on them! We do have a laugh at people’s expense when they get things wrong but it’s all done from a place of affection, it’s malice free.’

The Weakest Link returns Saturday, December 18 on BBC One.
