After a really difficult season for Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, under the helms of Coach Edith Agoye that saw the club battle till the final day to be sure of not returning to the lower division, the club have confirmed the resignation of the coach.
Faces with so many grueling moments from both the media and the fans, Edith Agoye struggled all season and has sent a letter of resignation to the club after serving for years while also stating that he’s not the problem of the club.
“I know I’m not the problem of the club but I have to resign to save my head. Some people are bent on sinking the ship of the club, believing that they should be in the saddle to run the club not the current “inexperienced collection of administrators”! Sports247 reports.
In a statement signed by the chairman of 3SC, Hon. Babatunde Olaniyan, the club acknowledged and accepted his resignation, thanked him for his services and also confirmed the state government’s resolve to send him abroad for development due to his long service for the club.
“3SC confirmed the state government has approved the proposal to send Agoye to the UK for a higher refresher course with the state government covering all the expenses.”
“This gesture to send him on a refresher course is done to appreciate the efforts of Agoye while serving the club,” the statement read.
3SC finished 16th of the Nigeria Professional Football League 2022 season with 48 points, level on point with relegated Katsina United and only being saved by a better goal difference of four goals.
