Pearl Thusi is one of the most in-demand actresses in South Africa right now and this month has been quite busy for her. In just one month, she has snagged more than 4 different magazine covers—from Cosmopolitan SA, The Celebrity Shoot, to running in-between different locations for M.A.C makeup photoshoot, and now she’s on the cover of SCHICK Magazine, what a better way to end the month of February.

SCHICK Magazine is featuring the South-African actress, model, TV host, radio personality and fashion icon in its 8th issue themed – “The New Decade Issue”. The quarterly publication, for smart, stylish and successful African women gets into an exclusive in-depth chat with Pearl on being the upcoming lead character in Africa’s first Netflix Original Series, Queen Sono, the growth within her 16-year long career, life as a mother to two young daughters and self-worth.

While Thusi, who on the cover tries to divert all the attention to herself, looking radiant in her short bob cut and exaggerated outfit, she told the magazine while chatting about being an African Mother that women should know that they’re strong and they can handle any circumstances regardless.

“I don’t know if t.’s anyone that works harder than an African woman but they still come through for their homes, families, communities, and countries,” Thusi said. “Women must know that we are strong and that whatever the circumstances are, we can surpass them because we already are heroes.”

Speaking about her gig with Netflix, the actress explained that women are already heroes, which reflected on her character in the series.

“I felt the story reflects many of us women in society today. Although Queen has exaggerated physical strength, she also has internal issues she’s trying to deal with, and regardless of these, she goes out to fight for the world and what’s right. Women must know that we are strong and that whatever the circumstances are, we can surpass them because we already are heroes which are reflected [in the series].”

As per the actress, every girl child must be taught about self-worth to be able to navigate this strange world we live in. “I think to allow your girl child to leave the house without a sense of self-worth is setting them up for failure.”

SCHICK Magazine’s New Decade Issue will be available digitally from 29th February and you can grab your copy ..
