Dear Fashionable ladies,
We trust your weekend was fun as we saw load of stunning Ankara styles slayed last weekend.
Today the Indians and the Chinese fight over who owns silk but we don’t have to fight over who owns the Ankara as its synonymous with Africa and especially Nigeria.
The fabric was made for a certain country but found its way to our shores when that country didn’t accept it, it was brought to Nigeria.

We embraced it with open arms and that began the era of the Ankara fabric as a national symbol.
Granted there is the asooke (which both the Yoruba’s and the tiv’s have alike) there is the adire but there isn’t any other fabric that has made such an impact in both our history and our culture like the Ankara.
When these fabric was introduced indigenously built factories began to pop up all over the place and thus we began to see more prints that worked with our cultures and art.
Now when a non-African see’s these fabric they know where it comes from and they might even understand the patterns drawn on the cloth and when they use it they term their work “Africa-Inspired”.
Like many African cultures, colors represent a whole lot of thing so don’t see the splash of color on the Ankara like an ordinary pattern, it is a message and it’s up to you to interpret it anyhow you feel like.
Well because we are so excited, we can’t wait to show you cool ways you can style your Ankara fabric; see fabulous styles below
