At a time when representation and political correctness is craved in Hollywood, Disney, in alliance with Marvel debuts the MCU’s first Muslim super-hero.

The character’s inclusion into the MCU  comes courtesy of the Disney + series, Ms Marvel that aired on Wednesday.

The series features a Pakistani -American family with a teenage daughter named Kamala Khan, whom the series is centred on.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe brings to life a character such as this at a time the Western world shares an unspoken fear of Islam in general, and Pakistanis in particular.

Although the series doesn’t center much on Islam as a topic or plot point but more about an alienated teenager who is coming of age, and discovering the powers she powers.

Judging from its first episode, the series will be more focused on character arcs and on the themes of alienation and inclusion.

But most notable is for the fact that the series bears the MCU’s trademark of light-hearted humor.

The series stars Iman Vellani as the titular character of Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel, with Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, Laurel Marsden, and Azhar Usman.
