Walk The Line winner Nadiah Adu-Gyamfi hits back at ‘fake’ claims – Fashionstyle Nigeria

The winner of Walk The Line, Nadiah Adu-Gyamfi, has spoken out against claims that her victory was a ‘fix’ after previously being signed, explaining that she is ‘starting afresh’.

Last week, the singer was crowned the victor of Simon Cowell’s new ITV show, which is presented by Maya Jama and stars judges Gary Barlow, Craig David, Alesha Dixon and Dawn French.

The contestant wiped her tears away as she walked away with an astonishing £500,000 after her powerful performance of This Woman’s Work by Kate Bush.

However, some viewers criticised her victorious turn in the competition, citing her past career in the music industry, having performed under the stage name Moko and released two EPs.

In a recent tweet, Nadiah thanked everyone who voted for her, saying: ‘I love you with all my heart and deeply cherish each and every beautiful message I’ve received so far.’

However, she then added that ‘it’s time I set the record straight’, linking to an interview with The Sun w. she addressed the criticism she has received.

‘I have noticed that people think that I am signed under the name Moko and worth millions of pounds, however this is far from the truth,’ she said, stating that she has ‘not performed under that name’ for seven years.

She explained that in 2014, she decided to ‘go independent’, and since has been an ‘unsigned and self-managed full-time musician’.

‘I’ve grown a lot t.fore I am grateful this show has given me the opportunity to show people who I really am and start afresh simply as Nadiah,’ she added.

Nadiah won Walk The Line after facing tough competition from Scarlett Thomas, The Beatbox Collective, Rodney Earl Clark, and Greg Charles.

Each evening on the show, the top two performers face a decision to either ‘cash out’ and take a prize, or ‘walk the line’ and . on for a chance of bagging an incredible half a million.

It aired daily from December 12, with six episodes in the first season in total.

While some viewers have expressed their confusion over the format, saying that they are struggling to understand how it works, an ITV spokesperson told Metro.co.uk that the ‘audience is increasing on catch-up’, following a dip after its premiere.
