The Jigawa State government says it will only consider citizen’s inputs into the 2024 budget.
The state commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Babangida Umar Gantsa stated this during the 2024 budget town hall meeting with stakeholders.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning in collaboration with Exceptional Leadership and Integrity Promotion Initiative, ELIP, on Tuesday, at the State Secretariat, Dutse.
He said the meeting serves as a crucial platform for Civic engagement, allowing citizens to have direct inputs in the area of priorities for transparency and accountability.
According to him, “the Jigawa government prioritizes citizen’s inputs in preparing the annual budget for the development of the State.”
Executive director ELIP comrade Isah Mustapha urged the citizens to prioritize qualitative over quantitative issues in their budget input for the development of the State.
He then commended the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning for allowing citizens’ inputs to ensure transparency and accountability in the budget.
