What to wear to your kid’s school function might not seem like much of a big deal. Dropping off your kids at school during a morning run has no dress code but attending a school function sure does!
Have you ever been faced with the dilemma of what to wear to your child’s prize giving day, graduation ceremony, open day or PTA meeting? Do you go for conservative, formal, sexy or casual?
Being conservative is usually best for school functions. When deciding what to wear to your kid’s school function, you want to appear classy and stylish but with a modern corporate feel.
A general rule of thumb is not to wear tight or low-cut tops and shirts as well as avoid dresses with very short hemlines. You want to make a good impression on the other moms and even the school authorities.
So what exactly is acceptable?

Keep it simple with accessories
When picking what to wear to your kid’s school function stay away from outrageous or gaudy accessories. Polished accessories in classic style make a better impression. Select small to medium bags with edgy structures and avoid sequinned, sparkly or flashy bags. Low heels, flats or wedges are a good match.
Colour and Prints
Go for solid colours especially on big days like Graduations. Cheery colours are awesome. If you are going for prints, floral dresses are a good choice. Knee-length solid colour dresses are slimming and work well too. Steer clear of animal prints, busy and loud patterns. Elegance should be your watch word.
Dress Pants/ Skirt and Blouse
Leave the denim and leggings at home. Your child needs you to represent him/her. Go for a modern trendy skirt and top. A pair of dress pants and a pretty blouse is fine or wear pants with a top or shirt and a smart blazer. A feminine blouse worn with a jacket and dress pants works well too. Jumpsuits are a great option if you don’t feel like being too dressy.
Ankara outfits are a safe fashion choice for school functions. Ankara never disappoints, so, you can show off various styles. Bear in mind that you should not overshadow everyone else, after all, it’s all about the children.
