He follows on the heels of Giovanna Fletcher who was crowned the very first Queen of the Castle after the show’s move from Australia to Wales in 2020.

It had been a tense race to the final as Danny had gone up against Simon Gregson, while Frankie Bridge finished in third place.

Reacting to his triumph, Danny told Ant and Dec: ‘I have made no secret about the fact that I wanted to be able to give him and set him up for a good future.

‘I wasn’t financially set for that and this is an opportunity to do that. It would set me and my family up. I feel like I have done it. I feel proud of myself and I hope my family are as well.’

Speaking about his Emmerdale character Aaron, he said: ‘I have .ed him for such a long time. Everybody knows me as that character so it is my chance to have a bit of a laugh, meet loads of new people and just be a bit different and do something in the reality world. And I have loved every minute of it.’

Coronation Street’s Simon told the hosts that he had finished the series with greater self-confidence.

The actor explained: ‘I knew before I came in that I needed to be in a certain state of mind not to be ‘blah blah blah’ and I think I achieved that.’

David Ginola had come close to a place in the final after being eliminated on Saturday night.

His campmates were in utter shock over his exit, clearly not expecting the former professional footballer to leave the show ahead of the final.

His elimination came just a day after Adam Woodyatt and Matty Lee left the castle.

This year’s I’m A Celebrity has certainly seen its fair share of drama, with Richard Madeley forced to exit the competition early.

The Good Morning Britain presenter had been rushed to hospital after falling ill but was unable to return to camp having broken the Covid bubble by leaving.

Days later, the series was forced to come off-air for three nights after Storm Arwen struck the area surrounding the castle, causing severe damage to the control centre.
