OMG, we are so excited!
Ladies and gentlemen, brace yourselves because kitenge outfits are about to take a whole different, fabulous turn! You know how much we have been going crazy about kitenge styles lately. so you need to excuse our excitement. Lol!
Yesterday evening, African designer extrodinaire, Nana Wax, had a pompous and colourful event at Le Grenier A Pain – Riverside, showcasing some of the most stunning kitenge designs we have ever laid eyes on! This exclusive event was graced by Nairobi’s who-is-who and of course the ZUMI team was in attendance to give you guys all the scoop 😉

Nana Wax kitenge outfits feature the most unique of fabrics and the cuts and silhouettes are to die for! Her real name is Maureen and the story behind her design name is quite interesting! The first group to sell kitenge fabrics in Togo, where Maureen hails from, went by the name Nana Benz. “Benz” because they were wealthy and were believed to be more influential than even the president! She drew lots of inspiration from their work ethic and success in the business, which explains why she chose Nana, and wax for the texture of the kitenge fabrics!
We bet you did not see this coming! This look is actually a swimsuit and cover up skirt! Super cool and practical!
