The police have reported the arrest of four suspects and the neutralization of two individuals linked to the fatal bank robbery that occurred in Otukpo, Benue State, on October 23.

Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, disclosed this during a meeting in Abuja with Strategic Police Managers, highlighting the tragic loss of lives, including the Otukpo Divisional Police Officers and other civilians, during the incident.

The robbery resulted in a substantial amount of money being stolen from three commercial banks.

Egbetokun praised the relentless efforts of the police force, combining human intelligence with technical means, which led to the identification of the robbers’ hideout.

This operation resulted in the neutralization of two suspects and the apprehension of four others, now in police custody.


These apprehended individuals are aiding the ongoing investigation to track down other gang members who may have fled.

Moreover, the police seized nine AK-47 rifles and 4,013 rounds of live ammunition from the suspects, adding to the evidence collected in the case.
